Welcome to NADFAS at Grayshott
Grayshott Decorative and Fine Arts Society meets monthly for interesting talks on a wide variety of arts subjects.
The lecturers have the finest credentials in
their specialist fields.
There are ten lectures each year (January
to June and September to December) held at 2pm on the first Thursday
of the month in Grayshott Village Hall. Tea and biscuits are served
after each meeting so that members can discuss the lecture and enjoy
the company of other members.
The Society also organises a series of visits
and study days during the year.
New members are welcome and are invited to a coffee morning so that they can meet the committee and other new members. The current subscription
is £38 pa.
The
Society is a member of NADFAS
(The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies) and a copy of the national magazine, The NADFAS Review, is delivered to members’ homes quarterly. It contains articles on arts subjects and news of NADFAS activities nationally. It provides ideas about what is available for members, including courses at both national and local level. It also gives information on holidays arranged specifically for NADFAS members.
One of the objectives of NADFAS is to make our arts heritage better known to everyone. Some members of Grayshott DFAS work as:
- Heritage Volunteers - giving their time as stewards at local National Trust properties or helping in a variety of ways at local museums.
- Church Recorders - working to provide evidence for posterity of the fabric and background of local churches.
- Young Art Projects – supporting projects in local schools. The Society gives limited financial assistance and members help with classroom projects.
